Huge Amount Of Money Stolen From Gurudwara Dera Sahib, Lahore.

A case of theft from Lahore’s Gurdwara Dera Sahib (GDS) has come to light where the offered/donated money was found missing from Gurdwara’s golak (charity box). In a written police complaint, with copy to Control Room, Lahore DC office and Chairman ETPB, Ali Amir, one of the Gurdwara’s security guards, has claimed that ETPB accountant Mubashar Hussain (earlier Naib Tehsildar, GSD), and Azhar Abbas Shah, (manager cum care taker, GDS), have stolen the donated money from the Golak. In his letter he has further claimed not only the duo have made fake cash registers to tamper with the donated amount, but have also connived and deleted the DVR records of GDS’ CCTV for the last one month to hide the theft. He also complained that after the matter was detected by the security guards, they are now facing daily threats of life from Mubashar Hussain and Azhar Shah.

Gurdwara Dera Sahib, the martyrdom shrine of Guru Arjan Dev Ji in Lahore district gets huge donations from the foreign pilgrims and Sikh NGOs. Mubashar Hussain, a close aide of Imran Gondal, is an ISI official and was earlier posted at Gurdwara Janmasthan during the time when the latter was posted as DS (Shrines) in ETPB. Mubashar Hussain was shifted to Gurdwara Dera Sahib in December 2022 where he was working as an Accountant. Though the PSGPC has once again failed to take up the case with the ETPB, the Sikh community in Pakistan is furious over the theft and has demanded immediate actions on the culprits.

The community leaders say that despite Pak Supreme Court’s order that either a Hindu or a Sikh should be the Chairman of the property board, Pak’s Ministry of Religious Affairs & Interfaith Harmony has not complied with the orders citing lack of eligible candidates from the minority communities.
